Get Rid of Your Old Boring Jewelry
Hit the Pawn Shop
Pawn shops are notorious for offering low prices on everything from electronics to jewelry. If you want to get rid of your jewelry fast then a pawnshop is a great place. However, do keep in mind that you will not get top dollar at a pawn shop. The only good thing about a pawn shop is that you can pawn your jewelry with the option to get it back at some point in the future, without having to sell it. However, if your jewelry is something you can do without, you will get a lot more money by selling it, than you will by pawning it.
Take an Inventory
Before selling a single piece of your jewelry, be sure to take an inventory of what you have. If what you have is primarily gold then research gold prices to be certain you are not ripped off when selling. You can have your jewelry appraised so you have a clearer understanding of what it is worth. Make sure you understand that the exact appraisal amount will probably not be the quote you get from buyers. Just as gold is marked up for retail, it is also marked down by buyers who sell gold. This is because they have to account for their own mark-ups for profit.
Find a Jewelry Buyer
Now that you understand a little bit about how your old jewelry can help you realize a little bit of extra income, you can begin your search for a buyer. There is certainly no shortage of gold buyers, and anyone who has ever taken the time to look around on the internet, or has been exposed to late night infomercials knows this. Most companies require you to put all your old jewelry and scrap metal in an envelope and mail it to them. Once they receive your gold, a check will be sent to you.
